Both use 27-inch 4K 240Hz QD-OLED panels at about 166 pixels per inch. PC Monitors, comparing the class, found performance similar and judged the AW2725Q the better value. TFTCentral measured 0.50 ms response and 0.33 ms display lag on the PG27UCDM.
Features
The ASUS has DisplayPort 2.1 at UHBR20, USB-C with 90W charging, a KVM switch, the Neo Proximity Sensor, and an anti-flicker option. The Alienware has DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.1 ports, and a USB hub, but no USB-C video input. Both support Dolby Vision.
Brightness
TFTCentral measured 263 nits SDR in Uniform Brightness on the ASUS; TechRadar measured about 250 nits full-screen and around 1,000 nits in a 3% window on the Alienware. Different outlets and methods, so compare cautiously. TechRadar also noted a purplish tint in bright ambient light on the Alienware, a trait of QD-OLED generally.

Verdict
If you need USB-C docking or KVM, the ASUS earns its premium. Otherwise the Alienware delivers the same core experience for less.
